Mrs. Veazy's Classroom Website

Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year!

Hi, my name is Mrs. Ronita Miles-Veazy. My students will call me Mrs. Veazy, parents please feel free to call me that as well. I am so excited to be your child's teacher this school year. I look forward to getting to know each and everyone of my students. This school year will be full of learning at all levels. As we believe at Owen that all students can learn because we as educators have the power to assist them in doing so. Please visit our classroom website often as I will post homework assignments and classroom information as well as a parent corner with important information. Again, I am looking forward to a great school year with you, the students, parents, and families.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS)

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a process for creating safer and more effective schools.  It is a systematic approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems.  The process focuses on improving a school's ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students.  Rather than a prescribed program, PBIS provides systems for schools to design, implement, and evaluate effective school-wide, classroom, non-classroom, and student specific plans.  PBIS is not a program or curriculum.  It is a team-based process for systemic problem-solving, planning, and evaluation.  It is an approach to creating a safe and productive learning environment where teachers can teach and all students can learn.

Students will earn PBIS tickets when they are following the rules of Owen and the classroom. Once they obtain a certain amount of tickets there will be opportunities for them to spend those tickets on items and participate in special events such as themed parties.
